Rules and Expectations

Player Expectations
  • Players understand they are students first and athletes second.

  • Players must report to practice / games on time and ready to begin.

  • Players will display sportsmanship and a positive attitude at all times.

  • Players will show respect to their fellow teammates, coaches, opponents, fans and officials at all times.

  • Players are responsible to take care of their bodies.  Drink plenty of water, maintain a well balanced diet and get plenty of rest.

  • Players will be honest with the coaching staff.

Team Rules

  • Practices after school will start at 3:00 pm and be over by 5:00 pm.

  • Any player with a car MAY NOT drive from the HS to RMT to get to practice.  Everyone on the team will walk together to practice.

  • Cell phone use is prohibited during practice, unless approved by Coach Rutherford for a ride or emergency use.

  • All members of the team are required to carry all equipment to and from practices and the games.

  • No foul language will be tolerated.

  • Only team captains and coaches will address the referees.

  • All players will ride the bus to and from games unless permission to leave with a parent is approved by the Athletic Director.

  • All players must participate in 6 practices starting from the first day of preseason before playing in a scheduled game or scrimmage.

  • If you are absent from school, you will not be permitted to play or practice that day.

  • If you have an unexcused absence the practice before a game, you will NOT be permitted to play in the game the next day.

    • Contact Coach Rutherford in advance for further clarification.

  • If you are excused from practice the day before a game and are unable to make practice, you will not be placed in the starting lineup for the game the following day.

    • Coach Rutherford must be notified of any excused practices before the start of practice that day.

  • If you are injured the day before a game and are unable to participate at practice, you will not start in the game the next day. Playing in that game will be under Coach Rutherford and Coach Zilinek's discretion.

    • Coach Rutherford and Mr. Frank Zilinek will discuss the injury.  Getting the player healthy and back to full strength is the #1 priority.

  • If a player accumulates 6 yellow cards throughout the season, the player will not play the game following their 6th yellow card.

    • 6 yellow cards is the equivalent of 3 red cards.  Regardless of the circumstances the yellow cards were received, players should be showing restraint on the field to avoid receiving yellow cards.

  • Players receiving a red card during a game will follow league rules regarding red cards (CAL & NFHS).

  • Alcohol, smoking and the use of drugs will not be tolerated. We will follow the school policy for any breach of this rule.  Any player in breach of this rule may be subject to suspension or removal from the team.

    • Any other discipline handled by the LCMR School District will be fully supported by the program.

  • Any form of hazing or bullying is strictly prohibited and not tolerated.  We will follow school policy for any breach of this rule.  Any player in breach of this rule may be subject to suspension or removal from the team.

    • Any other discipline handled by the LCMR School District will be fully supported by the program.

  • Players must be passing 6 classes in order to be eligible to play for any sport at LCMR.  The priority of a student-athlete is academics before their performance on the field.

    • If a student is found to be failing a class during the season, they will be required to attend after-school help/tutoring once a week until 4pm before coming out to practice.

    • If a student is found to be failing 2 classes during the season, they will not be allowed to participate in practices, and will  be required to attend all available after-school help/tutoring sessions until they can bring one of the failing grades up to a passing grade.

Parent Expectations
  • Parent meetings can be arranged but please encourage your daughter to speak with the coaching staff on their own. Part of growing up is responsibility.

  • Understand that your daughter is going to have ups and downs with school and athletics.  It is important to support them but encourage them to continue to work hard.

  • Please be positive to all of the girls participating on the field.  Words of encouragement go a long way with players.

  • Remember that every player has a significant role on the team. Accept your daughter's role and encourage her to do the same. Even though your daughter may not score a goal, start or even see a significant amount of playing time, understand that she is an important aspect to this team. Each individual experience will be unique and rewarding in its own way.

  • All final decisions will be made by Coach Rutherford. Please understand that every decision made is in the best interest of ALL of the girls involved in the program.

  • If you wish to speak to one of the members of the coaching staff, please be respectful.  The coaching staff understands that you are looking out for the best interest of your daughter, but please understand that we are looking out for the best interest of the entire team.

  • Any inquiries to a coach that cannot be met with an immediate answer will be considered for a 24 hour period before being concluded with the parent or guardian.  In some cases, its best if we can set up an appointment with the Athletic Director.

  • Team bonding experiences are a great idea! I only ask for the girls to let me know so that I can make sure ALL of the girls are invited to attend.

  • Please help your daughter take care of her uniform.
