11/18/20 - LCMR 0 v Middle Twp 6
Quarter Final NJSIAA South East A State Playoff
A tough loss against a good Middle team. Disorganization led to a few of the early goals. There was a period during the middle of the game where we moved the ball well through the midfield to create chances in more advanced positions. Momentum started moving in our favor, but a few late goals against was a little too much. Our first Quarter Final playoff game in 7 years capped off a season that was the opposite of ordinary. Though shortened, all the girls showed great determination and perseverance to finish it out. Thank you to all our Seniors that had 4 years of service for the program.
11/16/20 - LCMR 1 v Wildwood 0 (OT)
1st Round NJSIAA South East A State Playoff
Fantastic overtime win versus a stingy Wildwood team!! This was our first state playoff win since 2013. The first half was a little shaky at times for both teams, but the girls picked up the tempo near the end of the half and ramped it up in second half to control most of the play. Multiple chances created in the second half saw us miss on a few close opportunities. Seven minutes into the first overtime, Jordan Dougherty found space on the left side to advance the ball for a perfect cross that found Lexi Cremin in front of goal for the game winning header. A strong performance by Logan McKeown in the back along with the rest of the back four helped preserve the shutout for Kiki Soto and Jewels Frederick. Middle next on Wednesday at 4:30p in Cape May Court House.
11/11/20 - LCMR 0 v Middle Twp. 4 (1 half)
A rainy affair at LCMR between LCMR Girls Soccer and Middle Twp. The girls came out and played well defensively and moved the ball through the middle of the field in very treacherous conditions. Dangerous set piece chances and a missed penalty could have kept the game close, but we were snake bitten in this one. The game was called and made official at half-time due to worsening field conditions from the rain.
11/9/20 - LCMR 0 v Ocean City 9
Tale of two halves in this one. We came out and played very solid defense and disrupted Ocean City's flow and game plan for 37 minutes. Holding them to only one goal within that span. Two quick goals against before half was unfortunate, but the girls played extremely well on a fast turf field. Second half saw us lose a little shape to start, but the girls kept battling. Next up is Middle on Wednesday.
11/6/20 - LCMR 0 v WWC 2
Celebrated our Seniors Chloe, Sam, Molly, Christina, and Doc with a great ceremony including parents, grandparents, and siblings. I would like to thank the alumni who came and participated as they escorted our seniors during the presentation. The game itself was a very hard fought affair, and unfortunately WWC coming out on top. Quite possibly the best second half of soccer we have played all year, creating many chances that just couldn't quite find the net. Strong performances by Joanna Bonney, Kaitlyn and Molly McGuigan, Tina McCann, and Tessa Hueber in goal.
11/5/20 - LCMR 0 v Ocean City 9
The girls played well defensively for the first 25 minutes, catching Ocean City's dangerous forwards offsides multiple times stifling their attack. Got away from our game plan after the 4th goal went in and kind of unraveled from there.
11/3/20 - LCMR 0 v Middle 5
Back in action after just under a month showed the rust in a tough loss to rival Middle Township in Cape May Court House. Came out flat in the very beginning, and didn't start to get things going until about 10 minutes left in the first half. Second half was much better and saw us moving the ball around more successfully and creating chances in dangerous areas of the field. The back four did well to limit the speed of Middle's forwards drawing them offsides often.
10/6/20 - LCMR 1 v WWC 4
Tough loss today against a quick, physical Wildwood Catholic Academy. Started the game well and outplayed them for 20 minutes. After the 1st goal, we looked deflated and gave up two quick goals before half. Another goal against early into the second half and it was just too big of a hole to climb out of even though we did control the play for the remainder of the game. Sianna King scored her 2nd goal of the season assisted by Joanna Bonney.
10/3/20 - LCMR 6 v Cape Tech 0
Great way to start the season! Started off a bit sluggish, but turned it around to put four goals in the back of the net before halftime. Freshman Kaitlyn McGuigan started of the scoring with a beautiful first time strike from 40 yards out. Joanna Bonney added two goals before the half, along with Lexi Cremin getting one. Ball movement in the second half was much more fluid and we started seeing more play through the midfield. Sianna King and Logan McKeown finished off the scoring for the Caper Tigers. Kiki Soto earned the shutout in goal with Jewels Frederick notching two saves while spelling Kiki during an injury. Assists by Tessa Hueber, Jordan Dougherty, and Molly McGuigan. Coach Rutherford earned his first career win as head coach for LCMR Girls Soccer.
